sebo ks last release on mobilee, diva, was a hit, and one of mobilees most popular tracks in 2008. since then hes primarily stayed under the radar, popping up only momentarily to release a track on cecille in july of 2009. with his new release spirits, sebo returns not only to mobilee but also to the sonic tropes that propelled him to success in the first place. undulating melodics that stretch like rubber bands, a funky bass line, and a jacking house beat: within the first few seconds of hearing spirits one immediately recognizes the slew of sounds with which sebo k made his name. the track takes its time to build as well, riding the groove for a bit before bringing a singular, high pitched note into the picture. as it continually gains momentum and rises in intensity, the captivating sounds of a piano arrive, adding yet another layer of familiar and hypnotic melody. all the tracks components merge seamlessly, with percussive accents here and there until staccato strings make a dramatic entrance, fluttering and dialogue with the rest of the tracks components. by the end of the track, the piano has gotten back in the drivers seat, steering the track along it s course. the drum version builds off the vintage house sounds of the a-side but substitutes extensive percussion from max moya for the strings and piano

uk house music and disco superhero rob mello has been instrumental in shaping the evolution of the uk sound since way back when. through labels like classic, luxury service and the way ahead of its time disco elements series on azuli in the 90s, not to mention countless innovative remixes and collaborations, his production output has shone out like a supernova for well over a decade. this is a return to songwriting, to tracks with longevity and a timelessness which transcends forgettable vogues. butterfly is the debut release from this dynamic quattro known as beulah heights - three producers/writers and one singer. a dream team collaboration between royal college of music and child prodigy lyn goddard, dj/producer and film scorer rob mello, producer/dj nathan boddy aka the illustrious office gossip and the amazing vocal talent of singer katie beadle. so here we have it, the majestic first release on beulah heights. a slowly pulsating monster of a cut, shot through with a futuristically executed homage to early 80s productions and more than enough girth to guarantee a powerful response from the floor. already road tested to rapturous response, this is an absolute beauty.

giorgio gigli is an italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier.** he is rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, donato dozzy. hopefully we will have more of his tracks on turbo soon.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.

active since 1997 and one of norways leading exponents of experimentalelectronic music, alog is the duo of espen sommer eide and dag-are haugan, mainstays at the rune grammofon label.
alogs unique, hybrid sound has since developed through four albums that have unfurled a series of abstract yet accessible, self-contained sound worlds, each animated with their own internal logic, mixing a wide variety of bothelectronic and acoustic sources into something warm, intricate and organic.

astral social club is the project of prolific scottish-born neil campbell, apivotal figure on the uk post-punk underground, with a vast catalogue and numerous collaborations.
a member of both matthew bowers total and sunroof! projects, he appeared on three of the latters albums before helping to form the hugely influential and prolific (over 40 releases) leeds-based drone/psych-rock outfit vibracathedral orchestra in 1998.
campbell left vco in 2006 to go solo as astral social club, under which moniker he has released a number of albums (on labels like vhf, important, qbico, textile) and an ever-increasing stream of self-released cdrs in alimited edition series of volumes (currently up to #19).
the three tracks here were recorded by campbell, john clyde-evans, paul walsh and spider stacy.

>cancel< is duesseldorf based producer antonelli electr. 3rd ep for level records. while most producers arrange their tracks on laptops, using the latest software synthesizers and sequencers, antonelli choose to ban computers from his studio in order to concentrate on a production method which hasn’t change much since the early days of house music. all tree tracks are arranged and recorded live without any edits resulting in very pure record which a magical flow.

supported by monika kruse, adam beyer, jakob hilden, dave seaman, laurent garnier, kiko, john digweed, nic fanciulli, barem, chris liebing, danny tenaglia. yes, the world can be a cocktail and kaiserdisco are surfing on a wave of success following their track espandrillo. espandrillo made it into the richie hawtin us bus tour 2009 chart and has been re-entering charts worldwide for numerous times since. we think that with amalfino kaiserdisco will be hitting the top 10 charts of many dj s again. amalfino is a strong driving percussive track that builds on child vocals, creating a bit of a fairy-light atmosphere within a massive production. bailetteo is a track that can be understood a bit as a continuation of amalfino working with similar vocals but has less of a peak time formula. with >carachillo< kaiserdisco have added a cool and deep, housy track with indian vocals and samples, which could be cool for the house community.

akiko kiyama is back on lmd after kick starting the label with her acclaimed misidia monarchy ep. since then her sound has matured and grown, the flesh got spirit ep shows this in more ways than one. with a brooding sub low bassline & twisted intricate layers a genius vocal comes into play lifting the track only then to be placed back into the depths of the abyss. treppen is a peak time destroyer, sucking you into a hypnotizing rhthym that builds and builds creating a feeling that something is about to happen, strange vocals that sound like lost souls haunt the track hooking you in only to spit you back out onto a roller coaster baseline. sometimes is a harmonic cruise control roller that takes you on a trip through akikos wonderland.

bodo elsel has only done a handful of records and the two that i have known and loved since 1998 were put out on playhouse, the excellent housey sister-label of mighty klang elektronik. one track in particular, discount baby, has always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the sacred art of groove (you may have heard of it). punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops, its dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious german lego-master, who the a&r team of mike mind and thomas st shindig managed to coax back into activity.
it only took bodo a year to answer mr. minds email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks... >haustier< revitalizes piano house. >mai< is incredible, and >mein haus< is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of germany, putting it in the fine company of the autobahn, sven väth and christmas-market schwein. nice wibes!!
the icing on the cake was that bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap... he just wanted 42 copies of the record. yes. 42.

2nd single from the patrick cowley & jorge socarras album >catholic<. bleeding edge remixing by oni ayhun and noble editing by morgan geist added for your pleasure. while still everybody keeps guessing whos behind the mysterious and burning hot works of oni ayhun, macros got the mans first ever remix! o.a. obscured cowleys >memory fails me< with his trademark darkness and took it to the edge of engineering. and its got all that feeling, too! if you asked yourself what a forward-thinking patrick cowley might have done today - here is a serious offering. >burn brighter flame< is the disco heart of the album. with all disco crate digging of the decade, >bbf< is the ultimate find. since the original artists had intended this one to be a single theres also a stunning instrumental! we just remember how everybody got tears of joy when finn johannsen mixed the different versions of this for the first time at berlins picknick. who could have been asked for an edit of this gem other than metro areas morgan geist? creating a dialogue between the vocal and instrumental versions, his edit offers even more variety for the dj to mix in and out of this great tune.

belgian producers sierra sam & marcus vector return to their house-oriented project d.i.y. (dumb irresponsible youth) for three more sly, sexy groovers, with contributions from dop, big bully and markus fix.
while sam and marcus are generally known for their more techno-focused productions, last years house tools vol. 1 was a minor hit, with tracks included in ellen alliens resident advisor podcast, jay hazes recent fabric47 mix cd, and m.a.n.d.y.s charts. since then, they ve kept busy with their own toys for boys label, meanwhile sierra sam has co-produced the debut album by bloody mary on contexterrior.
still, they ve found the time to crank out these new elegant-yet-sleazy cuts, and while vol. 1 was purely instrumental, for vol. 2 they ve roped in some guest vocalists. first up is their collab with comrades dop (circus company, eklo, supplement facts). >kilimanjaro< features d.i.y.s tribal bounce combined with dops seedy, trent reznor-on-opiates vocal delivery.

our jazzy multi instrumentalist, dewalta a.k.a. david koch, returns to vakant with another popping fresh release, as earnestly house as house can get. since his first vakant release in 2008 (va021 salgaro/farina) davids music has taken him around the world in black largely covering our earths northern and southern hemispheres. side a is graced by move yo sitting as close to late 1990s baby ford as one can get without a time machine and personal guide to londons underground. david somehow owns this genre while still making it distinctly his. b1 night shade keeps the housey goose bumps going with a drier and more direct approach. cheeky bleeps and chunky bass balance dark spacey vocals to land the track somewhere between night and day. >angels trumpet< at the b2 position closes this stellar ep out with a track that again borrows from the genre, but continues way beyond its standards with melodic elements that push and pull you in multiple directions resulting in no less than dance floor catharsis.

its been almost a year since the release of efdemins fantastic two-tracker >america/the pulse<. >america<, that was also used on his curle mix-cd >carry on...<, became quite a big tune and even ended up on the number one spot in groove magazines chart. therefor efdemin preferred that no-one touched that track anymore, and we decided to give >the pulse< a remix treatment. john beltran is a highly respected artist that has been around since the early nineties - r&s! peacefrog! styrax! - and when we heard the ultra-funky mega-bomb he made from >the pulse<, we knew we made the right decision to ask him. another one of our long time favourites from accross the ocean is convextion aka e.r.p. he did some ground-breaking stuff on matrix, down low and frantic flowers. we asked him to do a remix of crcs amazing take on detroit techno, >vaskitsaherra<, originally on curle 009. the result ended up being nothing else than a timeless piece of art.

this, his 1st release for pick pocket, will feature some of his best work, francas heart has all the marks of being a hit, groove is so spot on & melodies coming in & out through out the track. this has all the right elements in the right places. a classic 10 / 10
dancing in the dark - this track simply moves you in so many ways, excellent percussive programing & synth lines that wave in & out of this simply. very nice piece of work. a new talented artist to watch out for in 2008.

heavyweight vinyl. in this light and on this evening, the new album from editors, represents a significant step forward for the band following the huge successes of debut album the back room and the number 1 follow up an end has a start. there have been many changes to life in editors since an end has a start broke the band worldwide and established the then birmingham based four piece as one of the uks most prominent bands of recent times. bassist russell leech and guitarist chris urbanowicz are now resident in new york while singer tom smith has become a father. these changes added to the sense that in this light and on this evening is the start of a new chapter for editors and the band came together in london for the recording sessions with producer flood at the start of 2009 with a determination to push their sound into wholly new territory.

aoki was born 1976 in osaka and is presently resident in berlin, germany. he has been releasing music since 2001 and ever since has been reviewing his personal methodology whilst actively creating sounds based mainly on computer/software. aoki is an energetic artist vigorously expanding the limits of original musical expression. he enthusiastically pursues an expansive variety of techniques of expression via a broad array of software and hardware. the rhythm and groove created by driving the cpu to the max may seem extreme. however, the respect and the inquiring mind to the root existence of the art expression of music keeps flowing incessantly.

jens kuhn from schmalkalden in thuringia has been producing electronic music since 1995.
as a part of r.a.n.d. muzik he managed the label out to lunch, which represented minimal, electronic, experimental as well as floor compatible music. besides releases on the r.a.n.d. labels out to lunch, united states of mars and science city he also produced for labels like playhouse and source records under the aliases lowtec and red sparrow.
in 2006 he started his new label workshop together with paul-david rollmann aka even tuell.

nils ohrmann moved to berlin in the middle of the 90s, where he knew the rave culture was in full bloom- from e-werk to ostgut. he himself was a dj at the infamous schnabelbar in kreuzberg for eight years. since 2004 he has been a resident at rosis in friedrichshain. in may 2009 he made his first ep for hula hoop recordings (a sub-label of rompecabeza), which was a hit in the berlin clubs. coming up next is catalog number 2: >green sleeves<.

pong musiq presents sven schienhammer aka quantec! he grew up in the 80s and have been working on electronic music since 1995. he maintains a fruitful relationship with the styrax label and produced a plethora of dub tech gems over the recent years in labels like echocord, millions of moments, meanwhile, smallfish and francois ks wavetec label. he s been considered the natural successor of moritz von oswald and mark ernestus (basic channel). this 3rd ep on pong musiq records contains 4 absolutely massive tracks for all the dub-techno fans out there. sven proves his amazing talent and moves his sound to the next level. floating music with hovering chords and his characteristic kick-drum shuffle, shimmering keys edging into the mix for a truly tripped out excursion from the deepest recesses of berlins techno dub vault. it is very hard to capture the feeling arising from this great music in words.

jesper dahlback is one of swedens leading djs/ producers with a lengthy back catalogue to his name, including co-production on two tiga albums, the hugg and pepp project with cousin john dahlback, and remixes for the likes of rex the dog, zoo brazil, arnaud rebotini of black strobe, thomas p heckman, robyn, the knife, and depeche mode. jesper has music in his genes, but it was the musical movements in detroit, berlin and london that inspired him to start producing techno, back in 1991 in his bedroom studio. completely hooked, by 1993 he d formed the stockholm-based globe studios together with peter benisch and adam beyer (following a chance meeting on the train to love parade?) and has worked there ever since. in 1996 jesper started the imprint, blank, mainly for his own material, and simultaneously launched joint venture dk with thomas krome - one of the first labels in sweden with a techno house crossover approach! in addition to making music for various techno labels around the world and working with planet rhythm, jesper met up with swiss-born stephan grieder who had just started the svek label. the duo started to experiment with different sounds, drawing on house musics roots, utilising vocals and acoustic instruments. jesper now describes his sound as >ranging between the analogue sounds of the roland sh101 and the precision mathematics of my computer. i m a researcher and developer of unheard sounds! since the founding of globe studios, i have always been looking for new ways to bend the rules and test the unknown. when i dj, i just play my own productions blending old classics with new unreleased demos.< a producer first and foremost, jespers dj dates find him weaving a soundscape of his productions, remixes and collaborations with new material at every gig, as well as musical elements and sounds worked through the set. one of his favourite current ventures is his part in jori hulkkonens acid symphony orchestra.

clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

after a couple of artist eps, white is back with a new release of their well-known faces series . this time with an unknown face so far: tristen tristen has been an integral part of the white crew ever since. it was just a matter of time, until he was ready to release some tunes. everybody new, if that guy ever finishes a track, it ll be a bomb. and so it came. a track which announces a state of emergency on the floor. with deep chords and strings, which scream so high right at ya, that you can t resist dancing. on the flipside edward puts out a melancholic ravemonster. but still in edward style! minimal and housy, with a slightly touch of a jazzy trance. but always with an eye for the deep. a track like a dream-like scuba dive... once again edward proofs, that he is one of the most outstanding young producers in the game, right now.

big with nick curly, agoria, laurent garnier, anthony collins, nima gorji, jimpster, tim xavier, brothers’ vibe, einzelkind, ripperton, dyed soundorom, italoboyz, stephan bodzin, thomas schumacher, gavin herlihy.. alexis bernard aka seuil returns to freak n chic this autumn with freak & violence, a two tracker which sees the parisian leader-of-the-new school take his impeccable sound into deeper, late-night territory. with huge releases for eklo and moon harbour since his last ep for freak nchic, seuil has been a name on many a lip and with this sort of output its likely to remain that way. warm synths and a tweaked spoken vocal dominate the title track, freak & violence. the synths have an ethereal, trippy vibe but are balanced by ultra-dry, ultra-groovy drums while the vocal slips in and out of audible significance which makes for a hugely absorbing listen.

supported by stephan bodzin, kombinat100, mathias schaffhäuser, p.toile ..... again that laid-back, humorous and open-minded character of the people of mecklenburg glistens from the grooves of the available acker record. this time it is represented by the gentlemen schaeufler, who is an essential part of the local producer and dj scene since many years, and zovsky, who was musically socialized in trancy sceneries and shows a remarkable versatility. set di dol comes around on a powerful, pushing bass line, precisely placed percussions, minimal melody fragments and an exotic vocal sample make this track distinctly stimulating. after that the two dudes pick up the relaxed and cosy atmosphere of every day, which originally hails from the easy listening genre, and garnish it with reduced but very effective rhythms. on the flipside, the radio version puts this remix even more in a nutshell and finally acker mister mollono.bass presents his version of set di dol on the flipside: based on his typical, bouncing groove, he creates a frisky and somehow tropical atmosphere, using refreshing xylophone sounds and a proper portion of tribalistic percussions

alex celler has made quite a splash in 2009! since his tuningspork debut ep trapped in dub, hes had a hitrecord la palma for arearemote, and consequently teamed up with fellow londoner anthea of phonica records. as anthea & celler they released a pair of 12?s forfreak n chic and cÚcille, and now their third effort as a duo appears on tuningspork. down with g.o.d. is a chunky and forceful workout, fuelled by jesus juice, with a distorted bass bounce and vaporous dubovertones that just might make the dancefloorbreak down and speak in tongues.
